I'm so happy that we've made JS an annual tradition for brunch to celebrate my cousin in law's birthday. The menu changes with the season, so there's always a great reason to come back. But my favorite thing that's available year round are the scones. I would show up before opening and wait outside just to get the scones if I was craving one. I haven't found any solid scone places that I can even recall. While there are many good restaurants throughout the downtown, I would say this is in my top two for brunch/lunch. The eggs are cooked to perfection, while the lunch options are a savory dream. Ok, I'll stop writing because I'm getting hungry just thinking about all of the things I've eaten here. The ambiance is also photo op worthy so take all of the pics you need for the socials!

The atmosphere of sitting outdoors in the patio was very relaxing! The service and food is great and I like the healthy choice's available on the menu. The wine recommended by bar staff paired well with my meal!

Johnston's Saltbox is a solid favorite that I visit often. The menu is select and seasonal, with offerings for every dietary preference. A complement of delicious wines from local family owned wineries is also available as are seasonal cocktails, freshly brewed coffees and teas, and the usual nonalcoholic beverages. The restaurant is cozy, but seats quite a few with a beautiful outdoor courtyard that more than doubles the seating options on most days. Service is always personable, efficient and attentive. Mary's fried chicken is a person go-to, whether in a sandwich or on a salad, but honestly I have never had a bad meal here.

Lovely place, excellent brunch! A little chilly on the patio but they have heat lamps and even blankets provided on each seat. THE WAIT My friend came here at noon on a Saturday and secured our group a patio table by 12:30pm. THE FOOD * Scones (chamomile & dried fruit, $11) - 5 stars. Fantastic, moist, excellent butter. * Strawberry Rhubarb French Toast ($21) - 3 stars. Quite hard and dry. A disappointment. * Poblano & Chorizo Enchiladas ($23) - 3.5 stars. * Saltbox Bacon Hash ($23) - 4.5 stars. Super tasty. Good contrast of crunchy and softer textures. * Bacon Brie Mango Baby (bacon dutch baby, $25) - 4 stars. Lovely soft texture & fresh, flavorful ingredients. * Salmon Gravlax Florentine Crepedilla ($25) - 3 stars. A little on the plain side, but excellent components, very soft crepe.

Went here for brunch on a Saturday noon. They don't have reservations but we were able to get a table inside right away. Really nice interior and unique style. We ordered the rosemary spritz and a strawberry lemonade as drinks. Both tasted great. For food we got the Peach French toast with side of bacon and the Mango Brie Baby. I enjoyed the French toast with the cream and the fresh peaches. I usually prefer savory dishes, but it was a great dish. Really fills you up as well. Also tried some of the mango Brie baby and liked it even better. Presentation of the dishes was also really nice. Staff were super friendly and nice vibe all around.

My favorite brunch spot in the neighborhood! Been coming here for years for lunch/brunch/dinner and have never had a bad experience. The farm-to-table eats offer seasonal menu options. Love hanging out in the outdoor area, so dog friendly. The bacon hash is my go to. I did try a new item on the menu this past weekend that I haven't seen on the menu before. The bacon brie mango baby! I'm a sucker for dutch pancakes and hope this stays and becomes a signature like the bacon hash. Scones are a bit pricey but worth it. One of the best I've had. Plus, their salads are tasty and a solid pick if you're feeling healthy. Weekends are busy but not too long of a wait. Weekdays are more chill. Seriously, if you haven't hit up this spot yet, you're missing out.

I seriously can't say more good things about Johnston's Saltbox. We've been here 3 times in the past 2 months for brunch and it has been a hit every time. Emerson our server all three times has been helpful and friendly! This month's scones with a coffee crème was absolutely sensational! I could eat a whole tub of that coffee crème. The tostadas were crispy and well balanced. I love how seasonal and farm to table fresh the menu and how local and neighborhoody this place is. My husband and I want to come just for scones and coffee and to enjoy the ambiance. We look forward to every visit to Saltbox and look forward to the next menu.

This is now my favorite spot for scones because what can beat fresh, warm, crumbly scones?! I'm so glad my friend suggested this place for brunch since I was introduced to these amazing scones. We came here for brunch on Saturday at 11am which was a good call because it got packed in a matter of 30 minutes. I picked a table on the front patio because it was such a sunny day and I ordered an iced americano for myself (not on the menu but I asked for it). We started with an order of today's scones, which were 2 warm and crumbly scones with the most delicious blueberry jam and cream cheese butter. I'm still dreaming about that first bite and it made me realize I've only had mid scones. The scones also had dried tangerine baked into them which gave them more texture and flavor. For my entree, I went with "The Usual" which consisted of scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, and a slice of sourdough bread with a smear of butter. I wanted a simple breakfast plate and this was perfect for me. Their hot sauce also seems to be homemade and it was great. My friend went with the salmon crepedilla and he enjoyed it as well. They have ample seating and I highly recommend sitting outside on the patio because the vibes are so quaint and cozy. It's dog-friendly so I'll have to come back with my pup when it starts getting warmer. To everyone: get the scones!!!
